This is from Ron Kim’s Facebook page promoting a different Public Safety Commissioner candidate, Kristen Dart:

Kristen Dart announced the launching of her campaign for Public Safety Commissioner on her campaign page, and both Democrats Dillon Moran (a Democratic Committee member ) and Minita Sanghvi “liked” it.

  1. It is disappointing for me to see the Democratic Committee issuing a warning to the one member of the City Council who has tried to hold individuals responsible for their irresponsible. disruptive behavior during Council meetings. I have disagreed with Commissioner Montagnino often since he was elected. However, I have also personally witnessed BLM activists using profane language, speaking over other citizens, refusing to identify their place of residence as required, disrespecting Commissioner Montagnino and members of the audience and working their fellow activists to such a frenzy that mob rule ensued. What Mayor Kim has allowed to occur during those meetings is unprecedented. Such behavior is never tolerated in other municipalities.

Having spoken to many Democrats during primary season, I have found that many support Commissioner Montagnino’s efforts to hold individuals responsible in a gentle but effective way when they disrupt Council meetings. The Democratic Committee should be defending the Commissioner from the outrageous claims from activists and from other Council members that he is a racist and a sexist because of the well-deserved summones that he had issued.

    1. On the other hand, it should also be noted that Commissioner Montagnino deserves some scolding from the Democratic Committee. Some of his comments and attitudes displayed towards the BLM activists were not helpful. At times, he has been as guilty as other Council members who seemed to be feeding the frenzy with irresponsible rhetoric. And the vitriol displayed by Commissioner Moran towards Commissioner Montagnino might be explained, though not excused, by the way Commissioner Moran has been treated, especially by Commissioner Montagnino.

  2. I agree with much of what Chris has said yet I’ll be more direct. I think often Commissioner Montagnino has been caught between a rock and a hard place where no answer was going to be satisfying to BLM or to his co-commissioners. Yet, his vitriolic responses only exacerbated the situation too often.

That said, for the Democratic Committee to single out Commission Montagnino seems short-sighted. With the exception of Commissioner Golub, they have all demonstrated behavior not becoming a public servant. In fact, it is too often unprofessional, immature, and nasty. They have belittled each other, called names. This behavior occurred not only at Council meetings but in City Hall’s daily life.

So, my question is why Commissioner Montagnino only? Why have they not scolded the others? I can only guess what is in the minds of those on the committee and what their ultimate goal is. I will assume it is not much kinder than the behavior they have rebuffed.

    1. “I live on stolen land”, therefore I can curse, abuse, provoke and talk/ramble as long as I want. I just need a whole lot of attention. And I’m getting all I want.

Yes Corinne, they would throw YOU out, but not BLM. It’s very sad.
