Pat Tuz Statement On Her Resignation As Chair of the Saratoga Springs Democratic Committee

[JK: Pat Tuz sent me an email explaining her resignation]

Hi John:

On the subject of my resignation, on my part it was planned.  Life’s circumstances got in the way  with our business and a few personal matters, and, as you may know,  the Democratic Committee took a lot of time.   I decided to complete the petitioning process so that I would not leave anyone in the lurch before resigning.  And it was soon enough before the primary so we could give someone else a chance.

I enjoyed the committee very much.  There are a lot of hardworking, dedicated people on it and it was a pleasure to work with them.

Thanks for your interest!

Pat Tuz

Who’s Next?

The Executive Committee will handle meetings until the right person steps up. It does take a lot of time and commitment so anyone would want to make sure they can make that commitment.

  1. I have always thought of Pat as a nice lady. Being chair of the Saratoga Springs Democratic Committee can be difficult, much like herding cats. She deserves credit for her efforts.

  2. Since this is not the occasion of Ms. Tuz’s funeral nor her proper retirement I do not think it a breach of protocol to depart from the generous comments that have so far been made to offer a more critical view of her time in office. For me I will remember Pat Tuz as leading a Trump like campaign two years ago that put in office some of the worst Council members in the history of the city. She then went on to violate her committee’s own endorsement proceedings to ensure that these same dysfunctional office holders would once again appear on the Democratic line on the city’s ballot this November. Quite the legacy.

  3. I agree Life Long Democrat. I ran in the last election on the republican line and was attacked by Ms Tuz and the democrats on how all republican values are bad and a threat to democracy. They made these accusations without ever having a conversation with me, they have no idea what my values and belief system are. Painting a group of people with a broad stroke as Ms. Tuz and this group does just needlessly pits people against each other. Diversity of thought and respect is what makes a strong community. The real work is finding common ground and working from there. Our city does not need party politics. We need good people with integrity that want to work with all people to make our community stronger on every level! I hope a change of leadership will bring a more civilized election cycle.

    1. As you point out “Painting a group of people with a broad stroke” please be careful not to do the same with “all” Democrats. Anyone paying attention to politics in Saratoga Springs right now has to recognize that the Democratic party is anything but united. This is not a fact I’m happy with yet is a fact. So when you paint them with a broad stroke you are doing exactly what are asking others not to do.

    2. I agree that it is very wrong to categorize all Republicans as being active participants in the Donald Trump cult.
