I ran into Jenny Grey at the most recent ZBA meeting. I learned that Jenny will be moving to Seattle at the end of the month to join her fiancé.
I want to publically thank Jenny for the terrific work she has done covering city politics. In the forty years I have been reading the Saratogian, Jenny is one of the three best reporters who have covered city politics. She will be sorely missed. On the other hand, I know I speak for many in my warm congratulations and best wishes on her coming marriage and her success in whatever she chooses to do out in Seattle where she will be moving.

Jenny’s reporting was the best reason to read the current incarnation of the Saratogian. She was also the smartest print hire since Monte Trammer’s tenure as publisher. Seattle’s gain. Happy trails!

Thank you all so much! I am excited for this new adventure, but also sad to be leaving Saratoga Springs, the paper, and my most beloved double-beat of city and education here. I hope Travis-the-new-guy (that’s all I know about him!) does a great job for you. I am happy thinking he couldn’t possibly be as long-winded as I am, so that will relieve the editors. 🙂

Adieu, sweet Jenny. Whoever your replacement is has a hard act to follow. Seattle’s gain is our loss. Thank you for caring so much about the city and writing with such integrity. We’ll try not to be too hard on the new guy.

The Saratogian has been in existence since the mid 1800s. Just think of the number of reporters who have come and gone. There were some outstanding ones, including Ms Jenny. Fred Dicker, Craig Wilson both made it big. Others stayed with the paper, and made it a career. Win Hill, Blanche Robbins, Marie Whitford, Gordie Lessells, just to name a few. When Gannett owned the paper, it was used as a training period for reporters. The good ones moved on to the bigger Gannett papers.
It will be a sad day when The Saratogian ceases to be published.
