Insurance Company Threatens To Cancel Coverage Of Saratoga Springs Fire Department Vehicles

The insurance carrier that underwrites the Saratoga Springs Fire Department’s vehicles (it may cover more items) has notified the city that due to a failure to pay its bill, the city’s policy will be canceled on November 8, 2023.

I do not know who was responsible for this screw-up, but since the notice was sent to Risk and Safety, one reasonably suspects that the City Assistant Attorney, Michael Phillips, who Mayor KIm has put in charge of Risk and Safety, may be the responsible party.

  1. Had Marilyn Rivers been treated fairly in her last year of service to the City, she would have helped to select and train a qualified successor as Risk and Safety Manager. She also would have been available to advise and to help with any questions that might have come up after her retirement date. Problems such as unpaid insurance premiums might have been more easily detected and rectified.

  2. Settle down.
This is not the fault of anyone on the council. (unless they can blame Jim)

Just ask Minita, she will have a great excuse.

It is crazy how many Ron Kim signs I see everywhere.

  3. Didn’t the Firefighters just endorse Kim? And now it looks like the responsibility for this fire truck insurance screw up lands back in his lap. What were they thinking?? Wow

  4. If you think the City will go uninsured, you must be drinking. Heavily. And it almost seems to be sour grapes the way you are bashing the Dems, right up to election day. If Repubs thought they would do a better job, they should have ran someone. How large is the great and powerful Repub Committee now, about 8 members? Stop your BS and help them out as you seem to know so much more than anyone else in the city. BTW, the act of throwing Joanne Kiernan out there with a week until election day sucks for her and the city.

It’s not about bashing Democrats. It’s about individual City Council members who are grossly incompetent. There is nothing wrong with writing in Joanne’s name, or any other name, to send a voter’s message to the opponent that says, we oppose you.

Didn’t the city literally just lose Travelers Insurance? If a company like that walks away, it likely means things are even worse than we imagine.
